Flower tips
Proper care is essential to prolong the life of your flowers and ensure they remain vibrant and fresh. Below are several tips for maintaining the health and longevity of your fresh flowers.
The quality of water used for cut flowers significantly impacts their lifespan. I recommend using clean, lukewarm water, as cold water can shock the flowers.
When preparing flowers for your vases. it is crucial to cut the stems at an angle of 45 degrees. This technique increases the surface area for water absorption and prevents the stems from resting flat on the bottom of the vase, which can impede water uptake. It is advisable to cut stems under running water or submerged in water to avoid air bubbles entering the stem, which can block water flow.
Flowers thrive in specific temperature ranges. Most cut flowers prefer a cool environment, ideally between 18°C to 22°C. Exposure to extreme temperatures, either too hot or too cold, can lead to wilting and reduced longevity. It is advisable to keep arrangements away from direct sunlight, heating vents, and drafts.
